Born in Hastings, New Zealand in 1974, Robyn Fleet is a contemporary artist known for her expressive work in oil paints and oil sticks. After 14 years living abroad in Sydney and London, she returned to Hawke’s Bay, completing a Bachelor of Art and Design at Ideaschool (EIT, Napier).
Since 2013, Robyn has exhibited in public galleries across New Zealand and is currently developing a contemporary art space offering children’s workshops and aged care art programmes.
Artistic Focus
Fleet’s work explores the human condition, focusing on issues like racism and identity. Her process-driven approach emphasizes materiality and open-ended discovery, encouraging reflection on how we perceive ourselves and others.
Inspired by Martin Luther King Jr.'s vision of character over color, Robyn’s art invites emotional and tactile engagement with the human experience.
